Career Technical Education at Local Colleges and in Adult Education

Everyone knows that education beyond high school helps you earn more, but what if college is not for you or your child?  You can still find a way to get ahead in the job market with a CTE (Career Technical Education) degree.

Our local colleges and adult education providers all offer a wide variety of CTE programs.  These pathways are for students who want to combine academic knowledge with practical career-readiness skills, preparing them to launch into professional employment.  Most of these programs are short - between 1 and 4 semesters (1/2 to 2 years) - and the boost to earnings is huge.

Sierra College currently offers 24 different CTE programs.  American River, Consumnes River, Folsom Lake, and Sacramento City Colleges offer over 50 different programs.  Our local adult education providers also have a large variety of CTE programs for adult learners of all ages.

If you or your student want more than your high school diploma can provide, but are not interested in a college degree, CTE is a great option.  Check out the links above to find career options that fit you!

Firefighters at McClellan Preschool

Firefighters from Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District visited McClellan Preschool on March 7 and 8, bringing their ladder truck.  Preschool students watched in awe as the ladder extended to its full height of 105 feet, and they waved to the brave firefighter who climbed all the way to the top.  Preschoolers also climbed through the enormous cab of the truck, and they heard a description of how all the parts of the truck work.  This is an annual event, arranged by our Adult Ed preschool teacher, Pat Stayton.  All students enjoy their visits from our firefighters
